WOMEN of SWPA have awarded Bonnie Nichols $1,000 as a Jefferson Award Finalist for 2018. As a volunteer with Living in Liberty, Bonnie devotes more than 40 hours per week helping downtrodden women on the streets of Pittsburgh. Living in Liberty offers a secure safe house for victims of human sex trafficking and reaches out to victims on the street. Bonnie provides a sense of hope to these victims by helping them gain access to shelter, health care, counseling, legal aid, food, clothing and education. Bonnie also coordinates the scheduling of other volunteers and recruits new helpers.
The Jefferson Award is given annually to honor Americans who perform outstanding public service in their communities and inspire others to follow their example. This year, WOMEN are honored to sponsor Bonnie Nichols for her work with Living in Liberty.
