It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of Melinda (Mindy) Hudson on April 19, 2017. Mindy was a dynamic member and was currently serving as co-president of WOMEN of Southwestern PA. She had also served as philanthropy chair prior to being a co-president. She approached each responsibility not only with compassionate, but also with passion and endless energy. She initiated several projects, such as the painted wine glasses and she even beautifully packaged the wine glasses when she was ailing in the hospital.

Mindy was always helping others, whether it was through her personal or professional life. Her mission in life was to reach out to others, by going out of her way to help family, friends and strangers alike. In her professional life, she was an educator and mentor at St Paul’s Preschool, Noah’s Ark Preschool, and Propel Homestead. Her love for children, teaching and for her students was apparent by how she would go above and beyond the call of duty to help her students. For example, she would frequently collect food and clothing for those that needed them. Her love for children was also apparent in her relationships with her eight grandchildren.

In Mindy’s personal life, she volunteered with Girl Scouts, the PTA, Meals on Wheels, The Literary Council of Southwest PA and at her church, where she was instrumental in starting Vacation Bible School, taught Sunday school, and organized numerous events. In whatever Mindy was involved, she always found the positive and her upbeat outlook became contagious. She always strived to do her best and inspired others to do the same by digging a little deeper, dreaming a little bigger and lifting each other up a little more. She had a quick wit, and a lively sense of humor, which were often demonstrated. Many of us remember her sending Ground Hog’s Day cards simply to uplift others during the dismal winter days.

“Life is not measured by how many breathes we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” Thank you, Mindy for giving us so many breathtaking moments. You will live forever in our hearts.
